Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 18, 2026

Your thoughts are yours.

Eous exists to help you think more clearly — not to extract value from your thinking. We don’t sell your data. We don’t serve ads. We don’t use your conversations to train AI models. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

1.Who We Are

Eous is operated by Forged Lucidity, a cooperative organized under the laws of the State of Maine, United States. We build AI-powered tools for deeper thinking. Our cooperative structure means we are accountable to our members — the people who use the platform — not to outside investors or advertisers.

2.What We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you subscribe to a paid tier, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your billing information — we never see or store your full credit card number.

Conversation Data

Your conversations with Ember (the AI companion) are stored to provide continuity across sessions. This includes your messages, AI responses, and any files or images you share during conversations. This data is essential to how the service works — without it, every conversation would start from zero.

Semantic Memory (The Gondola)

Eous uses a semantic memory system we call the Gondola. As you converse, the system learns your vocabulary, thinking patterns, and areas of interest. This creates vector embeddings — mathematical representations of meaning — stored in your personal account. The Gondola is what makes Ember feel like it actually knows you, rather than starting fresh each time. This data is yours: stored per-account, never shared between users, and deletable on request.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage information: when you log in, how many messages you send, which features you use, and general performance metrics. We do not use tracking pixels, behavioral advertising cookies, fingerprinting, or any third-party analytics that follow you across the web.

Device Information

We collect basic device and browser information (device type, operating system, browser version) to ensure the platform works properly across devices and to diagnose technical issues.

3.How Your Data is Processed by AI

When you send a message to Ember, your message (along with relevant conversation context and Gondola memory) is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. Anthropic generates the AI response, which is then returned to you and stored in our database.

Critical distinction: Anthropic does not use your conversations to train their AI models.

Your data is transmitted to Anthropic solely for the purpose of generating a response in real-time. Anthropic’s data retention and privacy policies govern their handling of data during processing. We have selected Anthropic specifically because of their strong privacy commitments and their policy of not training on user data from API usage.

4.How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

Provide and improve the Eous service

Maintain conversation continuity across sessions

Power your personal Gondola semantic memory

Process payments and manage your subscription

Send essential service communications (password resets, security alerts, critical updates)

Diagnose and fix technical issues

Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the platform

We do not use your data to: serve advertisements, build marketing profiles, sell to third parties, or train AI models.

5.Who We Share Data With

Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the platform: Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Vercel (web hosting), Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payment processing), and OpenAI (embedding generation for the Gondola). Each provider receives only the data necessary to perform their specific function.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation. If we receive a request for your data from law enforcement, we will notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so. We will challenge requests we believe are overly broad or unlawful.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity. Given our cooperative structure, any such transaction would require member approval. We will provide advance notice and an opportunity to delete your data before any transfer.

Never

We never sell your personal data. We never share your conversations with other users without your explicit consent. We never provide data to advertisers or data brokers.

6.Security

We implement security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of your data: all data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Database access uses row-level security policies, meaning your data is isolated from other users at the database level. Authentication uses industry-standard secure protocols. We conduct regular security reviews and promptly address vulnerabilities.

No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours and provide clear information about what was affected and what steps we are taking.

7.Data Retention

We retain your data for the duration of your active account plus 30 days after account deletion. During those 30 days, your data can be recovered if you change your mind. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted from our systems, including all conversations, Gondola memories, and personal information.

You can request immediate deletion at any time. Some data may be retained longer if required by law (such as transaction records for tax purposes), but conversation content will always be deleted on request.

8.Children’s Privacy

Eous does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 15. Users between 15 and 18 may use the Platform with parental or guardian consent. We are actively developing parental supervision features — including a guardian dashboard, activity monitoring, and crisis detection — to support families who use Eous together.

If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 15, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 15 has created an account, please contact us immediately.

9.Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you

Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information

Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data

Export: Download your conversation history and Gondola data in a portable format

Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances

Object: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes

Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw that consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@forgedlucidity.ai. We will respond within 30 days.

10.Cookies and Tracking

Eous uses only essential cookies required for the platform to function — specifically, authentication session cookies that keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party cookies. We do not use analytics services that track you across the web.

11.Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes to this Privacy Policy at least 30 days before they take effect, through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of Eous after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
